March Grade of the Month
6th Grade

Welcome to Holderness Central School, the home of the Hawks.

We are a K-8 school and one of nine schools in SAU #48, whose students attend Plymouth Regional High School after eighth grade. We are located in central New Hampshire adjacent to beautiful Squam Lake notably famous by the movie On Golden Pond.

Holderness Central School has a long, distinguished history of providing a quality educational experience for all students. A school wide literacy initiative is central to our instructional program. We believe it is a key component to success in all core subject areas. At HCS we want to ensure that every child receives the very best education possible. Faculty and staff are acutely aware of individual students and their learning needs. This information drives our instructional program and teaching practices. Our community, school board and faculty take great pride in offering small class sizes in order to maximize student achievement.

Holderness Central School has two levels in one building. Our Kindergarten through fifth grade students are housed in one section and our grade six through eight students are in the middle school wing. Because we are committed to a strong sense of unity among our students and staff we are able to provide a whole school family atmosphere, where students respect one another, help each other and where teachers work cooperatively across grade levels. Evidence of this can be seen at our many school-wide functions such as music concerts, pep rallies, Winter Ski Program, theater productions, Friends of The Arts Assemblies and PTA sponsored events. We have a strong commitment to the Arts. There is a yearly theater production and every three years and Artist-In-Residence (AIR) program which involves all the middle students. While these programs are an integral part of our school, we offer a variety of sports for grades five through eight. Our school community is proud and committed to offering a wide array of programs to keep our student active and engaged.

If you would like to visit our school, please call the main office at 536 – 2538 to make an appointment. As the principal of Holderness Central School it is my pleasure to serve the students, parents and the community of Holderness. If I can be of any assistance my door is always open.

Sincerely,

William J. Van Bennekum, Principal
